Belgian soprano Fleur Strijbos is a concert singer with a deep passion for Liedkunst. She feels at home in various styles, from contemporary music to opera.
Fleur began her professional vocal training under the inspiring guidance of soprano Anne Cambier at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, where she graduated with the highest distinction for her master's recital. She further developed her musical and vocal skills under the guidance of renowned soprano Barbara Bonney at the University Mozarteum Salzburg. Her studies were made possible by generous support from the Mitialto Foundation, Stichting Robus, and vzw SWUK Vlaanderen.
In 2022 and 2023, Fleur was Artist in Residence at SWUK Vlaanderen vzw, where she received full support in her artistic development. Since 2023, she has been Artist in Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel, where she enjoys high-level coaching and participates in concerts.
Fleur is recognized as concert singer for her performances on international stages, including Concertgebouw Tilburg, De Singel, Flagey, Gran Teatro Giacomo Puccini, Muziekcentrum De Bijloke, and Centro para las artes Zoco in Chile.
Fleur's enduring passion lies in ‘Liedkunst’ since she followed the Liedclass under the guidance of Lucienne Van Deyck and Jozef De Beenhouwer. In 2022, Fleur collaborated with pianist Babette Craens to form a Liedduo known as "Duo Fleur Strijbos & Babette Craens." They were selected for the ‘Udo Reinemann Masterclasses 2022-2023' and the semi-final of 'Supernova 2024' – the competition for young Belgian chamber music ensembles by Klara (radio). Since 2024, they are part of 'Vrienden van het Lied'.
Since 2024, Fleur has been part of the chamber music duo "Duo Leora" with guitarist Emma Wills, with their debut concert taking place during the Walden Festival of Radio Klara in Brussels.
Fleur has been recognized as 'Young Talent' at prominent Belgian and Italian festivals, including 'Liedfest Antwerp' (2020), 'Ghent Festival Flanders' (2021), ‘Puccini Festival’ (2021), 'Young Masters- Middagconcerten Antwerpen vzw' (2022) and 'Walden Festival' (2024). In 2024, she was featured on the Belgian radio program 'De Twintigers' by Klara, highlighting promising young Belgian musicians. In the same year, Fleur was selected as a Young Talent by Prima La Musica, and had the honor of sharing the stage with harmonica player Rutger Mathys and conductor Leon Blekh, accompanied by the Prima La Musica Chamber Orchestra, conducted by Dirk Brossé, at Muziekcentrum De Bijloke Ghent.
She's also proud to have won the first prize at the ‘XV° Concours Lyrique International Bell'Arte’ in 2024, the third prize at the 'Mâcon Symphonies d'Automne - concours international de chant lyrique 2023', and the second prize with the highest distinction at the 'Lions Club National Music Competition for Singers 2022'.
