From the press

“This recording (Lacunes) reveals not only the immediately appealing, warmly timbred character of Strijbos’ voice, but also the natural suppleness with which she shapes the musical line. Particularly striking is her imaginative handling of text.”

Opus Klassiek (translated from Dutch)

Her clear, sparkling and limpid voice delicately complements the darker substance of the male timbre. The singer shows beautiful vocal poise in the texts from Foccroulle’s Zauberland, which capture the audience’s attention.”

Olyrix (translated from French)

“Fleur not only sings with great skill, but with her whole being she conveys the emotions hidden in the poems and renders the musical expression of each song with outstanding mastery. It is a joy to listen to her: what nobility!”

LACUNES

Lacunes is the debut album of soprano Fleur Strijbos and pianist Babette Craens. At its heart lies Robert Schumann’s Sechs Gedichte von Nikolaus Lenau und Requiem, a cycle steeped in longing, fragility, and inner searching.

From this core unfolds a musical journey through song, with works by Barber, Copland, De Boeck, Pfitzner, Strauss, Webern and contemporary Belgian composers Alain Craens, Noah Senden and Piet Swerts.
